May 2007, New Moon in Taurus

Major Astrological Events from
May 16 - June 14, 2007

Please note that all events are dated for GMT.

New Moon at 25.33 Taurus at 07.28 PM on May 16th

Mars entered Aries on May 15 at 2.07 PM, remaining in that sign for the entire period.
Mercury is in Gemini until May 28.
Jupiter is in Sagittarius the entire period.

We can thus see that until the 28th of May, three planets are potently in their own signs, indicated a great deal of aggressive communication between people of different social and political views. On a more personal and positive level, people with strong fiery placements in their natal charts are likely to benefit from this rulership triumvirate, especially positions in Leo. A lot of creative potential and the ability to move forward towards the accomplishment of plans are certainly available to those in whose natal charts these three planets fit comfortably.

Mercury square Uranus as 18 Gemini/Pisces (T-square with Jupiter) on May 20th. Communication breakdowns, airport and aircraft related challenges, computer snafus, too many activities going on at the same time, are some of the more important potential results coming from this aspect. The above is a general perspective. This would figure into your life more personally should that square, conjoin, or oppose (by no more than 1.5 degrees) other mutable positions in the natal chart, especially if natal Mercury and/or Uranus are involved. In terms of the world picture, look for a lot of political arguments and religious strife in the period from May 19-20th (unfortunately, nothing new about this!)

Sun enters Gemini at 10.13 AM on May 21st.

Mercury trine Neptune at 22 Gemini/Aquarius on May 23rd. How about a little poetry, writing a fine screen play, visions for creating more harmony between people of different opinions and views—or am I being too Neptunian here?

Venus trine Uranus at 18 Cancer/Pisces on May 25th. Good time to get together at home with friends, open a fine bottle of wine, relax, don’t watch CNN (and never watch FOX News on a good Venus day, why spoil things).

Mercury and Pluto oppose at 28 Gemini/Sagittarius. This can be a very good time for archeology as these two planets work well together in these signs to uncover hidden things from the past (Sagittarius has a lot to do with history as the Ninth House is the domicile of the “encyclopedia of human civilization”). On the other hand, Mercury/Pluto are very active in terms of propaganda and trying to convince people to change their perspectives on life and beliefs. This planetary opposition could therefore indicate a day of very strong differences of opinions in these areas. If it falls in an important position in your own natal chart, this might be a great day for some personal introspection; just be careful not to swim too deeply in shallow waters.

Mercury enters Cancer on May 29th. Cancer is a sign of comfort and Mercury takes advantage of the invitation and decides to stay in this sign until August 4th. That’s nearly 10 weeks of milk and cookies. (Mercury likes this position so much that he retrogrades there at 11 Cancer on June 15th). As the Sun is in Gemini from May 21st until June 21st, the first part of this sojourn (May 29th-June 21st) can be a bit tricky to navigate. The Sun is trying to create intellectually in Gemini, but the Celestial Intellect (Mercury) is swimming in lunar waters. This could lead to a lot of subjective thinking and decision making and not support the most objective and inclusive views. On a more personal level (especially if you are a Gemini or have this sign rising—please see my article in this month’s Newsletter), this can be a good time to take stock of oneself and examine one’s inner motivates for communication and relating. Mercury begins to slow down about a week before it goes retrograde, so between June 9th or so and the 14th, you can expect things in general to progress at a much more lethargic pace. More about the retrogradation of Mercury in next month’s issue.

Mars trine Jupiter at 16 Aries/Sagittarius on June 5th. This is great for anyone with strong natal positions around these degrees of the fiery signs (especially Leo). It is very stimulating for positions in Aquarius at these degrees as well. This is a time of visionary courage and moving forward on one’s spiritual journey. Let’s hope that some of the world’s political and religious “leaders” get a good positive dose of this energy!

Mars trine Saturn at 20 Aries/Leo on June 11th. This is an excellent aspect for putting a jolt of “celestial vitamin B” into plans and projects. This combination gives drive and determination to overcome obstacles and build, build, build. It is especially potent for positions around this degree in the fire signs, especially Sagittarius and it is also helpful for 19-21º of Libra.
