Please note: all dates and times are in GMT so please adjust accordingly for your own local time zone.*** June 21: The Sun enters 0 Cancer at 05:18 PM; Mars enters Gemini at 02:51 AM; Mercury square Saturn at 10 Cancer/Libra. Cancer is the sign of foundation and speaks about the psychological (and karmic) matrix out of which the personality is formed. This energetic base will, as one's personal development proceeds, become the cornerstone for the tensions between the lower and higher selves that lead eventually to Initiation (symbolized by 0 degrees of Capricorn). Mark Edmund Jones (brilliant, amazing mid-20th century astrologer) says of 0 Cancer: "A sailor hoisting up a new flag while bringing down the old." With Mars entering Gemini simultaneously to this Summer (Winter for our Southern friends) Solstice, the urge to move out into a number of directions from one's center will be quite strong. Mercury square Saturn reminds us of the need for a defined sense of structure in terms of our efforts at acquiring, sharing, or distributing knowledge. The signs involved (Cancer and Libra), point to the very personal and intimate parts of our domestic life as the area where such care in communication may be required. Please Note: The above as in all and everything I write in "Celestial Happenings" is what I hope are clearly interpreted and synthesized meanings for the transits in question. Certain statements I make are representative of the expression of Universal Laws as signified by the movement of the planets. As such, they apply to one and all. In terms of their application, however, to your personal life, they take on an even deeper and more personal significance when they touch significant points in your natal chart. June 22: Sun trine Neptune at 1 Cancer/Pisces: Mars square Neptune at 1 Gemini/Pisces. Get out your inner tubes, goggles, and floatation devices as it's going to be a day of astral deluge and we will need to see through the illusion that present themselves and be able to rise up out of some rather intense emotional "stickiness." In terms of the physical plane, floods and other forms of water-based challenges may easily manifest. A lot of compassion will be released in the hearts and minds of men and women of Good Will and the urge to be of service will also be strong. June 25-26: Sun sextile Jupiter at 4 Cancer/Taurus, Sun square Uranus at 4 Cancer/Aries. A likely scenario for those of you who have 4 degrees of the Cardinal signs strongly configured in your chart is some type of conflict surrounding the way you wish to use your finances and/or a conflict in values between yourself and your family. In general there is likely to be some very strong rebellious and combative sentiments between groups of people with contrasting beliefs; hot spots in the world may ignite. June 27-28: Sun opposing Pluto at 6 Cancer/Capricorn. Whenever there are difficult aspects between the Sun and Pluto, they speak of abuses of power and/or the resistance to change, thus reinforcing old and negative patterns of willfulness. Thus there is a very definite wrong use of will and power. Cancer and Capricorn speak to us about security and the urge to build upon our comfort zones. But are these really comfortable? If they do not regenerate when life demands, they gradually become our "discomfort zones," ones that are sure to make other people equally, if not more, uncomfortable. Should you have any planets or major points in your chart in 5 to 7 degrees of the Cardinal signs, then you are being asked to examine where you are showing resistance to release and change relative to the planet or point in question, i.e. Venus (relationships or finances), MC (career direction), natal Sun (self-identification in terms of creative self-expression), etc. If 5-7 degrees of Virgo and/or Pisces, Taurus and/or Scorpio figure prominently in your chart, then look forward to a nice "cosmic vitamin B shot" during these days. July 1: Partial eclipse of the Sun at 9.12 Cancer at 08:55 AM with Saturn in Libra square the eclipse point. Solar eclipses always occur at the New Moon while lunar eclipses always fall at the Full Moon. A solar eclipse tells us that the area in question where it takes place in your natal chart is under some form of urgency for change. When connecting to a planet, it points to the fact that the energy of this planet needs to be studied so that such transformations are possible. If you were to have the Moon, for example in your 7th house at around 9 degree of Cancer, the implications would be very powerful (allow about a 5 degree orb of contact and remember that the most important aspects involving any eclipse are the conjunction and the opposition). In this case the nature of your domestic relationships would be in a critical stage requiring some major repair work. You would be asking yourself to bring definition to your emotional needs and those of your partner as well. The use of the word "definition" in the above paragraph is very important in this particular instance as Saturn, planet that rules the principle of consolidation, is 90 degrees from the eclipse point. The signs Cancer and Libra are involved, thus the reason for the type of example (one involving domestic relationships) that I have just used. Should you have any major planets or points from about 4 to 14 degrees of any of the cardinal signs, look for this eclipse to trigger the need to define and clarify the circumstances that these points indicate. It is I trust understandable that I cannot give explanations for all the hundreds (or more!) of possibilities that this eclipse may have on your particular natal chart. The variables are just too many. I am hoping however that the principles that I am outlining will at least point the reader into the right direction in terms of how to interpret these indications. I am (not so secretly) also hoping that what I write may stimulate further studies into our ancient art and science. In a more collective and global sense, governmental bodies will be having to pay a great deal of attention to social security, feeding people domestically, and conditions of general welfare. This would especially apply to the USA as the eclipse falls on the Sun of this country (July 4th is the birthday, thus the solar eclipse is within a tight orb of exactitude to the natal solar position). In essence, this is an eclipse with very strong political overtones. July 2: Mercury enters Leo at 05:39 AM: the Sun is square Saturn at 10 Cancer/Libra. The Sun square to Saturn does not give a lot of "free-flowing" vitality. It will be important to recognize and fulfill one's responsibilities, especially of a domestic nature. Leo is not Mercury's favorite sign. There is nothing particularly "wrong" with this placement (1 out of 12 people in the world have it!), but Mercury is much more content in Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Capricorn, and Aquarius. The latter are the more "mental" signs of the zodiac in which Mercury (planet that rules mental activity and communication) may function more closely within the form of its own nature. When in Leo, Mercury can certainly be creative but not particularly logical, holding opinions that are backed more by the subjective demands of the personality than the objective impersonality of logic and reason. Gosh, I sound a bit like an astrological Mr. Spock here! July 4: Venus enters Cancer at 04:18 AM, Mercury trines Uranus at 4.33 Leo/Aries. Venus likes to travel through Cancer as it is in this sign where she is at her most nurturing. If you have her in this sign in your natal chart and the question should arise: "Your place or mine?" it will always be your place for sure. As for Mercury trine Uranus, this is a most positive combination as mind links positively with intuition creating great opportunities for creativity and insight. People with planets or positions at 3 to 5 degrees of the fire signs (especially Sagittarius) will benefit the most. July 5: Mercury square Jupiter at 5 Leo/Taurus. Not the best day to make travel plans should this transit fall in an important place in your chart; take care that you do not spend more on tickets or hotels than you have to. July 7: Jupiter trine Pluto at 6 Taurus/Capricorn. Lucky you, if 5 to 7 degrees of the earthy signs (especially Virgo) figure prominently in your natal chart. An increase in finances is likely, especially if the point in question is your MC, Venus, Moon, or natal Jupiter. June 7: Mercury trines Saturn at 10 Gemini/Libra. As my German-speaking friends like to say: "Alles ist in Ordnung." Everything is in order. This is a wonderful aspect to put all our writing and speaking commitments in order. A great day to catch up on emails and a fine day to send kind messages to parents, older people, and superiors. July 8: Venus opposed Pluto at 6 Cancer/Capricorn. As they say, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." If you have 5 to 7 degrees of the Cardinal signs in important positions in your chart, then care should be taken with finances, especially those shared with either business or intimate partners. If however, these degrees are in Virgo, Pisces, Scorpio, or Taurus, then you just may find some monetary benefits coming your way today. This would be especially the case if natal Venus, Moon, Jupiter, or the MC are involved. July 10: Uranus turns retrograde at 4.33 Aries, not becoming direct until December 10th when it reaches 0.39 Aries. Uranus returns to 4.33 Aries on March 25, 2012.This is known as a "planetary station." If you have any planets between 0 and 5 degrees of the Cardinal signs, Uranus will be either square (to Cancer/Capricorn), opposed (to Libra) or conjunct (to Aries) these positions. This means that since March 21, 2011 (when Uranus first touched 0.39 Aries in terms of the present station), you have been feeling the call to make radical changes in the patterns of your life. Such intense needs for major transformation are indicated in the area of your life where Uranus affects your chart. Should these degrees be in either Leo or Sagittarius, such mutations will be much easier to manifest. Please note: To learn more about the effects of Uranus in Aries, you might wish to download my MP3 lecture on the subject. This talk is about 75 minutes in length and is available by clicking on this link on our new MP3 download page. July 11: Mercury sextile Mars at 15 Leo/Gemini.This is a fine day for creative writing and speaking. July 13: Venus square Saturn at 11 Cancer/Libra.Getting household expenses in order, making up budgets in general, and outlining shared domestic duties and responsibilities are some of the more important characteristics of this aspect. July 15: Full Moon at 22.28 Capricorn at 06:41 AM.This lunation involves the signs Capricorn (position of the Moon) and Cancer (position of the Sun). As a result the areas of life of most importance that are triggered by this particular Full Moon are personal and social security, career dynamics, and family/domestic issues. The houses in your natal chart where this full Moon occurs will reveal much more about how such issues are to affect you personally. Please note: From July 16 to the time the Sun enters Leo (early on the morning of July 23), there is not much happening in terms of interplanetary aspects. The only point of interest is on July 20 when Mercury is trine the North Node of the Moon at 23 Leo/Sagittarius. This is a good indication of some form of progress in talks surrounding international relationships. It is also a great time to engage in some form of higher studies and the planning of a voyage especially if it involves some deeper quest for wisdom. May all your days during this month of Cancer, be filled with opportunities to nourish and be nourished both by people and the planets. Alan is available for individual consultations and mentoring. In Britain add one hour, CEDT add two hours, and for EEDT add three hours. For my friends in Australia, NZ, and other points south of the equator, I know that the time adjustment that you need to make to GMT is already familiar to you. |
