Celestial Transits

January 20 — February 17, 2010

All dates and times shown are in GMT.

Note: Jupiter is now in Pisces, remaining in that sign until June 5th when it enters and remains in the first 3º of Aries until September 8th when it returns to visit the Fish again. It remains in the last decanate of Pisces until January 23, 2011 when it transits through Aries for a little under five months. Jupiter in Pisces brings out a very strong Second/Sixth Ray energy field, yielding universal love, great compassion, and kindness in terms of the Fish that swims upstream. In terms of the downstream swimming Fish, it produces religious excesses and ideological conflicts based on adherence to separatist theological orthodoxy.

January 20—The Sun enters Aquarius as 00.28am.

January 22—Venus trine Saturn at 4.35 Aquarius/Libra
This is a very good day for organizing social events and humanitarian efforts as there is a mutual reception between these two planets. This is excellent for people with 4-5º of Gemini/Sagittarius prominent in their natal charts (as well as these degrees in the other airy signs).

January 24—Sun trine Saturn at 4.35 Aquarius/Libra
So it would appear that the world will have an opportunity from the 22nd to the 24th of the month to make some progress in the distribution of Good Will in terms of Right Human Relationships as the Sun/Saturn trine serves to reinforce the Venus/Saturn trine at this same degree point. Hopefully this goodwill may be applied to efforts in Haiti but this positivity is here for all of us to employ and enjoy. Sun trine Saturn is also great for relationships with older people! (I’ll make sure to let my grandchildren know that this is a great day to email Papa Alan.)

January 27—Venus opposing Mars at 10.50 Aquarius/Leo
Not your best days for social harmony. Although the transits of Venus/Mars stimulate “the urge to merge,” the opposition makes for challenges in this respect. Thus there can be a lot of recognized need for alignment in human relationships but a lot of conflicts along the way. People with 10-11º of Gemini, Libra, Aries, and Sagittarius prominent in their natal maps may find that they are especially socially active today. Those people with these degrees in the fixed signs will find such activities challenging.

January 29—Sun opposing Mars at 09.48 Aquarius/Leo
It would appear that January 27-29 are not the easiest days for aligning personal purposes with group functions. Challenging Sun/Mars aspects always “heat up” the environment. Add the above comments to what was said under the January 27th paragraph as the degree point involved is very close.

January 30—Full Moon at 10.15 Leo/Aquarius at 06.19am (GMT)
This full Moon is very close to Mars and the Moon will oppose Venus later on in the day. Leo/Aquarius oppositions always deal with challenges to integrate individual urges within a collective purpose. This theme is highlighted today and the energies of the Full Moon will expand upon what was begun on January 27th. Please take note as usual of the degree points involved and the relationship to those degrees in your natal chart. Afflictions from these degrees to fixed sign positions will augment what was written above while those with these points n Aries, Gemini, Libra, and Sagittarius will find themselves in social situations which either advance their goals and/or allow them to be vehicles of resolution to such interpersonal challenges. (PS. Soul-centered people are always standing in places of resolution no matter what the transits of the day may bring.)

January 31—Saturn square Pluto at 4.21 Libra/Capricorn
Please refer to the past couple of issues of As Above, So Below (available here) as well as to this edition’s special feature on Haiti for more comments about this challenging aspect and the era that it brings. I say “era” because this square lasts for many months, spans 2009-2010 and is involved in one form or another with the greater Cardinal Cross aspects that continue on through 2015.

February 6—Mercury sextile Uranus at 24.26 Capricorn/Pisces; Jupiter sextile Pluto at 04.31 Pisces/Capricorn
Nothing much in the way of major transits happening between January 31 and February 5th. The combination of these two sextiles is great for metaphysical studies and for all mental work that leads to widening our knowledge and perspective on life. They are especially positive in charts with these degrees in Scorpio, Taurus as well of course in the signs of their location.

February 8—Venus conjunct Neptune at 25.54 Aquarius
The combination of these two planets always brings about a great deal of idealism in terms of human relationships. It invokes humanitarian behavior and kindness. It also heightens sensual sensitivity and can bring about a lot of joy through the arts, music, and theatre. It is known for the pleasure that is sought and given as a result of this contact but one must be careful of the illusionary nature that such pleasures also carry. People with 25-26º of Taurus/Scorpio should be especially mindful these days while these degrees in the airy signs as well as in Aries and Sagittarius may just find that they are have a “good ole time!”

February 10—Mercury enters Aquarius
The “Little Herm” enjoys his stay in the Water Bearer’s sign and will remain there until March 1st. While in Aquarius, Mercury serves us well through mass communications, the internet, and methods of social interconnections. Look for a rise in Facebook and Twitter usage as we get our messages out on cyberspace!

February 11—Venus enters Pisces
Aphrodite enters her exalted realm of the Fish where she will meet up with Zeus in a few days. Yes, the Love Goddess truly enjoys her swim in Poseidon’s waters (forgive me for using the Greek names for the planets but Venus in Pisces has that effect on me!). If you have Venus in Pisces in your natal chart, you will be having your Venus return sometime between now and March 7th when she enters Aries and mutates from sensual and dreamy to assertive and erotic. And anyone with Venus in the first 11º of the Fish will be doubly blessed as both Venus and Jupiter will be conjoined your natal Venus—so lots of pleasures and romance on the way (but these are quick and illusionary transits so enjoy the moment but don’t think that what occurs will become a permanent reality). The Venus return highlights our relationship with everything that is of importance to the goddess: money, lovers, business relationships, and our life values. In addition check out the house position of Venus in your chart as that area of your life may be especially blessed (especially if both Venus and Jupiter are transiting there).

February 12—Mercury trine Saturn at 03.51 Aquarius/Libra
I really appreciate good aspects between these two as they are great for all kinds of mental work as well as for the organization of those “bits and pieces” that we always need to be put into place. If these degrees are very positive in your chart (and they are in the airy signs as well as in Sagittarius and Leo), this could also be a good day to communicate with older people in general and your father in particular.

February 13—Mercury opposing Mars at 4.23 Aquarius/Leo
Not the best day to seek agreements with others as there will be a tendency for conflicts of opinions. Naturally this is augmented and personalized should 4-5º of the fixed signs be prominent in your natal chart.

February 14—New Moon at 25.18 Aquarius at 02.52am (GMT); Sun conjunct Neptune at 26.10 Aquarius
Well need I say more? New Moon conjunct Neptune, not my idea of clarity! Great for being selfless in group relationships, i.e. coming up with inspirations that help out the collective regardless of one’s personal agenda. I just wonder if there will be particularly strong storms and very high tides during this particular day and generally during the month that follows until the next New Moon. (The addition of Jupiter in Neptune’s sign of Pisces increases this “watery” projection.) As this all occurs in Aquarius, I would think that powerful lightning bolts will also be a potential phenomenon.

February 16—Venus conjunct Jupiter at 07.00 Pisces
Sweet. This combination is meant to be enjoyed, preferably with someone with whom you can share sensual delights. If you are fortunate enough to have 6-8º of the watery signs prominent in your natal chart, you will really enjoy the day. This conjunction occurs right on the cusp of my 4th house and here in Bali I have a swimming pool. So I think it is a perfect day to invite some friends over for a swim and perhaps a yummy Balinese fish dinner! Why not—“As above, so below!”
